Nau Air

Where classic inspiration meets modern hydrodynamics.

Development of the design language of a luxury residential truck

Project background

The design of the boat was created for Nautic Boat, a Hungarian company known for producing sport sailboats. This is the brand’s first motorboat, which is also a foiler. The challenge was that we joined the design process at a later stage. The hull tooling had already been completed, but the client was not satisfied with the appearance of the boat. Our task was to fully modernize and redesign the overall appearance of the boat while adapting to the already finished lower hull.

solution

The exterior design of the residential truck was designed in line with the Dembell team's creed, brand strategy and thoughtful technical innovations. We designed a sophisticated, timeless look that reflects Dembell's vision of creating the world's first luxury inland yacht — completely unknown in the world of motorhomes

The product design won the renowned Red Dot design award in 2022 and 2023.

Proportions

We aimed to create an optically elongated hull. In the initial sketches, the rub rail separating the bottom from the side surfaces was positioned higher. The bottom was given a black color, which makes the lighter-colored hull appear slimmer. At the stern, a bathing platform was added, further improving the proportions while providing direct access to the water and facilitating easier boarding in the harbor.

Exteriour

The most distinctive element of the boat is the design of the cockpit: the foredeck rises gently towards the helm, and this curve is perfectly echoed by the two-piece, semi-circular windshield that embraces it. This solution evokes both sportiness and the elegance of classic racing cars, while at the same time improving access to the foredeck.

Deck

Several layouts were prepared for the deck arrangement. During the design process, it became clear that access to the cabin as well as to the foredeck was not resolved. The solution was a winder staira, which also serves as an upward-opening telescopic door leading into the cabin. We developed three different versions of the sun deck. The deck also accommodates height-adjustable tables that can be converted into a lounge.

Teher nélkül, egész nap

The cargo box is sized and shaped to safely carry a small child. The open view, low center of gravity, and lockable cover together ensure stability, comfort, and protection in everyday city use.
A playful steering wheel inside the cargo area allows children to experience the joy of motion while riding. This small detail adds emotional value to the design, creating a subtle connection between the vehicle and its passenger.
The body shape and optional weather cover are designed to adapt to changing conditions. The forward-leaning front section channels rainwater away, while the cover keeps the cargo or passenger dry even in wet weather.
Design without compromise.
In developing its motorhomes, Dembell follows a completely new design philosophy within the industry. Design—including brand building—is treated on an equal footing with engineering, approached in a holistic manner. As a result, we were able to create a sophisticated, high-quality appearance down to the finest details with minimal compromises.
